1 – Scientific study about spatial behaviors of avatars

Three months ago we launched a small-scale study about spatial behaviors of avatars in Second Life. Our initial study which comprised 20 participants and hundreds of thousands of coordinates has been completed. Now we are ready to launch our large scale version of the project.

To celebrate the official launch, we join the project Opera Bis in Second Life and Open Sim. The next event will be held Wednesday, April 6, 2011 (11am Pacific Time / 20h France). Full details of this project here: http://operabis.net

The purpose of this study remains the same: "study the spatial behaviors of avatars" in Second Life and Open Sim about a hundred of participants. For that, we developed a new system for recovering data in conjunction with the CRCA, University of California, San Diego.

We therefore invite all participants to wear the object "magic ring" during the Opera Bis event in order to participate in this research. You can get the object at the entrance of the Opera :

We will be present the day of the opera to guide and assist avatars wishing to participate in this study.

2 - Digital media traces

We want to recover all the photos and videos taken by the avatars during the next Opera Bis show. We therefore propose several solutions to avatars to help us in our research:

• send us links to galleries where pictures are stored in the email address above (and permit us to retrieve the content via download).

1 – Etude des comportements spatiaux des avatars

Il y a plus de trois mois nous avons lancé, à petite échelle, une étude sur les comportements spatiaux des avatars dans Second Life. Une vingtaine de participants et des centaines de milliers de coordonnées récupérées nous ont autorisées à préparer le lancement de cette étude à grande échelle.

Afin de marquer le lancement « officiel » de ce projet, nous nous joignons au projet Opéra Bis dans Second Life et Open Sim, dont la prochaine représentation aura lieu mercredi 6 avril 2011 (11am Pacific time / 20h France). Tous les détails de ce projet ici : http://operabis.net
 
Le but de cette étude reste le même : « étudier les comportements spatiaux des avatars » dans Second Life et Open Sim sur une centaine de participants. Pour cela, nous avons développé un nouveau système de récupération de données en collaboration avec le CRCA de l'Université de Californie, San Diego.

Nous invitions donc tous les participants d'Opéra Bis à porter la « magic ring » permettant de participer à cette recherche. Il est possible de retirer l'objet à l'entrée de l'Opéra :

Nous désirons récupérer toutes les photos et vidéos prises par les avatars lors d'Opéra Bis. Nous proposons donc aux avatars plusieurs solutions pour nous aider dans nos recherches :
